Web Protection Privacy Policy

Gridinsoft Web Protection helps block known phishing, scam, malicious and suspicious domains. This policy explains the information used by the Android app and its protection service.

Account and device connection

You sign in to your Gridinsoft account in a browser. Our account service processes your sign-in details and connects your access to a registered device. The app receives account and device identifiers, access expiry, connection settings and credentials. The app does not receive your account password. Device credentials are encrypted with Android Keystore and excluded from Android backups.

When protection is on

The app uses Android’s VPN service to send DNS domain lookups to Gridinsoft over HTTPS. We process the domain name, request type and device credential to resolve the domain, check access and apply our protection policy. Our servers also receive the connection IP address. DNS resolution communicates with DNS servers needed to answer the request.

This is DNS protection: it does not inspect page contents, messages, passwords or payment-card details, hide your IP address, or change your location. We do not keep a complete DNS browsing history.

Block events and protection activity

Confirmed blocks are associated with the registered device to show the blocked domain, reason, time and report. Server activity keeps domain details for a rolling seven-day window and daily statistics with hashed domain identifiers for a rolling 30-day window. Expired entries are removed during routine cleanup. The app keeps up to 20 recent block alerts in encrypted storage, displays them for up to 24 hours and clears them when you sign out.

Purposes and service providers

We use this information to provide protection, authenticate access, enforce device limits, explain blocks, operate and secure the service, and respond to support requests. The app has no advertising SDK or advertising identifier. Service infrastructure and DNS providers process information needed to deliver their services. If you open an optional website report in your browser, that website receives the browser request and applies its own website privacy practices.

Your choices and deletion requests

You can decline the protection disclosure, turn protection off, disable notifications in Android settings, or sign out to remove locally stored connection credentials and block alerts. Turning protection off stops the app’s DNS filtering; it does not delete your account.

To request deletion of your Gridinsoft account or Web Protection data, email [email protected] from your account email, specifying whether you want to delete Web Protection data only or your entire Gridinsoft account. We verify ownership before acting. A full account deletion may affect your other Gridinsoft products. Records required for legal, billing or fraud-prevention obligations may be retained for those purposes.
